I am the programmer and analytics nut. I like taking scattered information, finding the signal in it, and turning it into something useful. QuackIndex came from combining my sons' duck-hunting expertise with my background in software and data.

We designed it around the questions duck hunters actually ask: Is a freeze pushing birds south? Is the wind worth setting up in? Is the water low, rising, or flooding? What does the ground look like? What rules apply to this spot? QuackIndex brings those answers together without pretending that a forecast can guarantee ducks will be there.

The idea has always been simple: give hunters a clearer picture before they leave home. Know before you go.

The Boys of Fall name is part of our family's story. In 2009, one of my sons appeared in Kenny Chesney's “The Boys of Fall” music video when he was ten. A few years later, I started the Boys of Fall Outdoors Facebook page to chronicle their hunting exploits—especially duck hunting. QuackIndex grew from that same experience and was designed with the duck hunter in mind.
